Strengthening support services in rural Brant

Rural residents can face unique challenges when accessing support services such as mental health, substance use, and employment supports. Travel distance, transportation, service hours, and awareness of what services are available can all play a role. Needs can also be different from one community to another. Understanding these local differences can help the County and partners focus efforts where they are most effective.

The County of Brant is working to improve access to social supports in rural communities and you can help. This project builds on the Community Safety and Well Being Plan by taking a closer look at how rural residents experience access to supports in different rural areas.

Our goal

The County is working with community partners, service providers, and you to:

  • Provide clearer information about available supports.
  • Better identify and prioritize what supports are most needed.
  • Understand where gaps and barriers to these supports exist.
  • Explore how support and services can be best delivered or promoted.

Why this is important and how your input helps

The County of Brant covers a wide and diverse area with unique local needs. Understanding both the gaps in service and the gaps in awareness will help the County and its partners align resources, strengthen connections, and improve access to support across all communities.

Your input will help guide future partnerships, programs, and advocacy efforts to ensure rural residents are aware of and have access to essential supports, no matter where you live in the County of Brant.
