Parks Master Plan

This project is now complete. Thank you for participating! You will be able to view the final plan at brant.ca/Plans after May 5, 2026.

The County of Brant is preparing for the future of parks, recreation, and outdoor spaces with a Parks Master Plan that will guide how these services and spaces grow and improve over the next 15 years.

The draft Parks Master Plan was developed through a thorough review of existing parks, facilities, and recreation programs. Population growth and future community needs were also carefully considered. Feedback gathered during the newly approved Community Services Strategic Plan and Parks and Recreation engagement in 2023 also helped shape the priorities included in this draft plan. View the completed background study.

  • I see there is focus on active transportation including mixed use trails and connecting existing bike trails to expand overall cycling ability. How will this impact St George, that currently has nearly zero ability to cycle off of a roadway, and no connection to any other trail system in the county? Has this been explored?

    Hello There!

Details regarding cycling infrastructure for the St. George area are detailed in the Transportation Master Plan for reference.

Additionally, as developments occur in St. George a North/South trail network will be constructed in open spaces.

  • Is the county going to ensure that the trails are very clearly marked and the private property adjacent to the county lands will be clearly marked as private property. Many people think that the county owns all of barkers bush and quite frequently trespass where they should not be. There needs to be a lot of very clear and concise signage that shows there is private property on both sides of the river that is not county owned

Thank you for your question. The County provides mapping for areas such as Barker's Bush and trail signage for established routes. Other mitigation methods such as tree planting, fencing, and re-routing of trails may be used to deter trespassing in some situations. Consideration will also be given for marking some private properties where conflicts exist. Adjacent property owners may also add their own signage to mark the property line.

  • We have a large property across from us [80 Willow Street]... I gather it's on a water table {if that is the correct term}.. would love to see a nice park across from us...

Hey There! Thank you so much for the feedback. We believe the property you are referencing is 3 Yeo St.  If so, that property is zoned as employment lands currently.  Unfortunately, a park cannot be built there, but residents are welcome to use Willow St. Park, Syl Apps Community Centre, Penman's Dam Park  and the SC Johnson Trail that are close to their property.
