The County of Brant is reconstructing Dundas Street East, Paris Road, and Oak Park Road. With work beginning in 2025, this multi year infrastructure project is replacing aging underground services and will improve how the road functions for drivers, pedestrians, businesses, and future employment growth in the area.

Work will take place along the following sections.

  • Dundas Street East between Curtis Avenue and the intersection of Dundas Street East and Paris Road, plus about 150 metres on Governors Road
  • Paris Road from Dundas Street East south to the intersection of Paris Road and Oak Park Road
  • Oak Park Road from Paris Road to the railway tracks

A future roundabout is planned for the Paris Road and Oak Park Road intersection. Construction for that feature is expected in 2028.

What to expect

This project focuses on full road reconstruction and major underground servicing including:

  • New watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer on Dundas Street East
  • New watermain and sanitary sewer on Governors Road
  • New watermain and sanitary sewer on a portion of Paris Road
  • A low pressure sanitary forcemain from Paris Road to Oak Park Road and south to the railway tracks
  • Road resurfacing with new curbs and sidewalks in urban areas
  • Dual left turn lanes on Paris Road from the water tower to Oak Park Road

Traffic impacts

Delays are expected during construction.

  • Dundas Street East will be reduced to two (2) lanes during daily construction activities and may be reduced to one (1) lane from time to time.
  • Governors Road will be reduced to one lane for approximately 150 metres.
  • Paris Road and Oak Park Road will be reduced to one lane during daytime construction. Staff are working with the contractor on when and where two-way traffic in the evenings and on weekends may be possible. Expect delays.

Important reminders

Access to properties, businesses, and emergency services will be maintained during construction.

Please refer to Municipal 511 for the most up-to-date traffic information regarding road construction and closures.

The timeline provided on this page outlines the necessary updates in the order they will occur.
