The County of Brant is seeking community input on dog parks within the County of Brant to help improve operations, service, and access policies.

Currently the County of Brant only has one designated dog park, the Simply Grand Dog Park, located at the Green Lane Sports Complex, 8 Green Lane in Paris.

This members only park features separate areas for small and large dogs within a 2-acre fenced space, emphasizing a natural landscape maintained with the help of its members. To access the park, dog owners are required to have a valid dog license and an active dog park

    Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback about the Simply Grand Dog Park. Between April 14 and May 9, 2025, we asked for your thoughts on the park and how it could be improved. We heard from over 180 survey participants and 30 quick poll voters.

    Here’s what you told us:

    Most Want the Park to Stay Members-Only

    A large majority of survey respondents (74%) and quick poll voters (81%) want the park to remain members-only.

    People said this helps keep the park safe, clean, and enjoyable. Many are concerned that if the park is open to the public, it could lead to more confrontation, unvaccinated pets, and irresponsible behaviour.


    Who’s Using the Park

    • 45% of survey respondents are current members
    • Most members have used the park for 2–5 years
    • Many visit weekly or even daily
    • Medium and large dogs are the most common users

    What People Like in a Dog Park

    When asked about important park features, participants said they value:

    • Natural landscaping
    • Shaded areas
    • Separate spaces for small and large dogs
    • Water stations and seating

    Satisfaction with the Park

    • 82% of people are satisfied with the park overall
    • 80% believe members usually follow the rules


    However, some shared concerns about rule-breaking, including:

      • Too many dogs per person
      • Unattended dogs and waste
      • Non-members entering the park

    Safety Concerns

    • 70% have seen or experienced dog or owner aggression
    • While 77% feel current rules are enough to keep things safe


    Suggestions to improve safety included:

      • Cameras or keycard entry
      • More bylaw officer visits
      • A way to report problems
      • Stronger rule enforcement

    Your feedback is already helping shape the future of dog parks in Brant. In response to the input we received, the Simply Grand Dog Park will now be closed every Tuesday from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm for routine maintenance and upkeep. This weekly closure will help us keep the park clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

    Dog Park Clean-up Event

    In celebration of Earth Week, we invite current members to participate in a Dog Park Clean-up event!

    Date: Tuesday, April 22, 2025
    Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
    Location: Simply Grand Dog Park, Green Lane Sports Complex, 8 Green Lane in Paris

    *A Simply Grand Dog Park Members only event.

    The County will provide all necessary materials, and staff will be present to answer questions and gather feedback regarding park operations and access policies. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the park's upkeep and share your insights directly with us.
