As the County continues to make investments into the reconstruction of roads and infrastructure in Downtown Paris, we will be undertaking a corresponding Zoning By-Law Amendment. These changes to the zoning will provide direction for future development of the area.

We will be looking at the following zoning requirements to ensure they align with the community's vision for the growth of the area while conserving the historic charm of Downtown Paris.

  • Building height
  • Permitted uses
  • Parking
  • Floodplain management

Connecting the Downtown Dig and the Zoning Project

As the downtown area gets reshaped through the Downtown Dig project, the zoning regulations are being updated at the same time to complement the changes. These new rules will make sure that the land can be used in a way that works well with the new downtown design and improvements, making it easier and more accessible for pedestrians, supporting local businesses, and keeping the historical feel of Downtown Paris. The updated regulations will also support the redevelopment by reducing the need for additional planning approvals. Both the construction and zoning changes will work together to help the downtown grow and stay strong into the future.
