Hi Paula, thank you for your question.

Access to your driveway will be available intermittently throughout the duration of the next phase of construction, depending on the construction activity taking place in front of your property. If all goes as planned, we anticipate watermain, storm and sanitary sewers to be installed by the end of April. At that time, the contractor will be relocating to another area of the project and access will be restored temporarily. You could expect the contractor to return to the area between Silver Street and Wellington Street by mid-May, where they will complete the road building, including concrete curb and sidewalks. Further communication related to driveway access will be provided closer to this phase of construction.

Hi and thank you for your question. There are currently no plans for improvements on Broadway Street West between West River Street and Emily Street. The Section of Broadway Street West from the CN tracks to West River Street and West River Street to Mechanic Street are planned for construction in 2024.

    Hello,

Correct. The intersection of Market Street and Silver Street will not be blocked for this phase of the construction. When the construction is at the intersection of Silver Street and Market, there will be daytime lane restrictions at the intersection to accommodate the connections to existing underground infrastructure.

Nicole asked over 1 year ago

Hi Nicole, thank you for your question.

The construction is behind schedule from what was originally anticipated, and as such, some of the work will be deferred to the spring of 2023. To be completed this year will be all underground infrastructure between Capron Street and Wellington Street, which includes sanitary sewers, storm sewers and watermain. Also included in the works to be completed this year will be curb work and base asphalt between Capron Street and Wellington Street. It is expected that the contractor will be on-site until mid/late December. The remaining section of Market Street between Wellington Street and Silver Street as well as all sidewalks and landscaping will be completed in the spring of 2023.

Hi Susan – For this phase of construction, the limits will be from Capron Street to Silver Street. The contractor will be working block by block in order to minimize disruptions to residents within the immediate construction zone.  There are plans to continue with construction south of Capron Street, which is tentatively planned for 2023. There are currently no plans for any work north of Silver Street.

As you stated, Market Street needs repairs and ideally this project would have started sooner in the year, however, there were circumstances that did not allow for that. While construction is taking place, through traffic will have the option to travel downtown on Grand River Street North or travel west towards Puttown Road. The County and Contractor are aware of events taking place at the fairgrounds, specifically the Paris Fair. We will do our best to accommodate increased traffic demands during these events, while also ensuring a safe construction site for workers and residents of the area.

Market Street will be closed to thru-traffic for the duration of the construction project but will allow access to businesses and residents of Market Street. Unfortunately, this work will temporarily result in higher traffic volumes on Grand River Street North. Traffic signals and light timings are monitored by the County, but there is not currently a recommendation to alter the signal timing at this time.

  • Share A large portion of questions have been around keeping vulnerable road users safe. There is a reply on a question about bike lanes saying the road is wide enough for cyclists and cars together. Why will there be no bike lane painted if that’s the case? It would be a great start in this town to include safety and comfort for all the cyclists in the area on this plan. Also, if there will be a cycling path on the Broadway plan for next year wouldn’t it be wise to connect it to Market. on Facebook Share A large portion of questions have been around keeping vulnerable road users safe. Thank you for your question. The new road platform for Market Street will include space for cyclists, but will not be marked as a dedicated cycle lane until the bike lane network is in place throughout this area of Paris. The Broadway Street West improvements will also include room for cyclists.
