Major upgrades on Grand River Street North are beginning soon

Major upgrades on Grand River Street North in Paris are kicking off soon, backed by over $9 million in provincial funding to save local taxpayers money.

What's happening and where

  • Work begins on Ann Wilson Way before moving to the main stretch between Watts Pond Road and Silver Street (work will not begin on Grand River St N until this phase of the Downtown Dig is complete – which is expected in a couple of weeks!).
  • Two-way traffic stays open on Grand River Street North while crews work.
  • Area shops, restaurants and services remain completely open for business.

Why now?

  • Over $9 million in provincial grants covers the cost without heavy taxpayer burden.
  • The province requires project completion by the end of 2028.
  • Designed to support north Paris for the next 30 years, including a new public elementary school and fire hall.

Key improvements

  • Widening to four lanes for smoother traffic.
  • Four modern roundabouts featuring safe pedestrian crossings.
  • A brand-new multi-use path, sidewalk, and upgraded streetlights.
