The following is the projected timeline for this project:
- October 4 – Release of Second Addendum to the Background Study
- October 15 – Presentation of Background Study and By-law to the Administration and Operations Committee for Recommendation to Approve
- October 22 – Approval of Background Study and By-law by County of Brant Council
- November 1 – Effective date for new Development Charges By-law
A link to the addendum will be sent to project followers and will be published on this page.
As part of the staff report to Committee on October 15, we will be preparing a quick-reference sheet outlining timing for the implementation of the new by-law, explaining “freezing” triggers, deadlines and the application of the interest policy.
As a reminder, the statutory public hearing for the Development Charges Background Study and By-law was held in June, 2024. If any stakeholders would like an opportunity to further present to Committee or Council on this matter, they should contact the County of Brant Clerks Division at clerks@brant.ca to arrange for a delegation.

Now with a new Development Charges by-law scheduled to be presented to Council in September, County staff are preparing to update Development Charges on October 2, 2024.

The new Development Charges Background Study report has been published for public review in accordance with the Development Charges Act. The report can be found under the Documents section on this page.
On Tuesday, June 25, 2024 the Council of the County of Brant will hold a public meeting to present and obtain public input on the municipality’s proposed development charges (D.C.) by-law and background study.
Public Meeting – Proposed Development Charges

Time: 6:00 pm
Location: County of Brant Council Chambers, 7 Broadway St. W, Paris
All interested parties are invited to attend the Public Meeting of Council and any person who attends the meeting may make representations relating to the proposed D.C. by-law and background study.

In order that sufficient information is made available to the public, the background study is available to view online.
Copies of the proposed D.C. by-law and the background study are also available at County of Brant Customer Service Offices.
Interested persons may express their comments at the public meeting or in writing, addressed to the municipal Clerk at clerks@brant.ca, by mail to the below address or on the Comments and Questions section of this page.
