Not sure if this is the place to pitch the idea but... What about keeping property taxes unchanged for homeowners, as long as they are the original owners on the title. When a home is sold, reassess it and raise taxes on the next owner. This could help reduce speculative buying and selling because people may be happy with their low tax rate. It would also avoid elderly people slowly being taxed out of a home they may have bought 50+years ago. When they budgeted and planned for their future, they likely didnt know it could increase so much. I understand costs rise, but when I have to pay additional taxes to help support infrastructure for development that I never had interest in when buying my home here, I'm unhappy. Reward people for taking root in our community, and let the transient people pay the increase in taxes, or the house flippers and speculative buyers. At least then people know the tax rate they signed up for, instead of a long slow increase some may not easily afford.

I appreciate the opportunity for engagement. I think the County needs to consider slowing the rate of growth it's currently experiencing. I've swallowed the sad truth that growth is inevitable and can't be stopped, but I think it's happening too exponentially. The infrastructure isn't here yet. Roads are way too busy and there are bad bottlenecks and traffic congestion. I think it's too much for a town this size. It also just doesn't feel like the same County of Brant we all fell in love with. The rapid growth makes the place feel like a busy city, which is the opposite of why people cherish living here. Let's keep Brant small, quiet and manageable. I'm not saying without growth, just, manageable.

Can you explain, justify the 25.4% pay increase for the CAO for a municipality the size of Brant. What percentage of citizen in the County do you think also received a 25% pay increase? What increased duties are involved for this increase?

I see the budget for renovation of St George Lawn Bowling club has been increased, I’m hoping that includes sufficient funds for a Health Unit safe certified kitchen.

Barrier Free entrances in shops and level sidewalks in downtown Paris. I had to walk my friend who is in a wheelchair through downtown. Felt like 2nd class citizens. I also had difficulty manoeuvring the wheel across steep slope and uneven sidewalks - dangerous. Page 5 of the budget brochure - money out has + signs which is confusing. Money out is typically a - sign.
