The County of Brant is exploring the possibility of expanding the Brant Sports Complex in Paris to better meet the recreational and wellness needs of our growing community. This proposed project is still in its early stages and is subject to Council approval. Your feedback will play a key role in supporting the vision for this potential project.

  • A large gymnasium to accommodate sports like basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and badminton.
  • Walking track.
  • Space for group activities such as fitness classes, preschool programs, seniors’ programming, summer camps, and community events.
  • Improved accessibility features to ensure the facility is welcoming to all.
  • A focus on sustainability, using environmentally friendly practices and materials.

The County of Brant is inviting you to share your feedback about a potential expansion. Your input is vital in helping us gauge community interest and understand priorities.

    What we heard

    Between January 21 and February 9, 2025, we asked County of Brant residents to help shape the Brant Sports Complex Expansion through surveys and engagement activities.

    During that period:

    • We shared design options.
    • We collected your survey responses.
    • We held discussions with community members through in-person events held at the end of January.


    Key themes from the feedback include:

    • Design options that serve a range of ages and sports.
    • Accessible facilities and pathways are valued.
    • Clear timelines and funding clarity are important.
    • Regular updates and opportunities to share more input are needed.

    Where we are now

    Staff presented design options to the Administration and Operations Committee on May 20, 2025.
    Unfortunately in July 2025, the County was notified the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund application was not approved.

    Despite this the project remains planned and budgeted for a 2026 construction start, however progress does depend on securing external grant funding. This may affect the project schedule.

    Staff are working with Planning, Building, Operations, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, and other authorities to advance design and readiness.

    What comes next

    Staff will report to Council in the in late spring of 2026 with:

    • Final design details
    • Updated cost estimate
    • Funding strategy


    Construction will be tendered once grant funding is secured and Council approval is received.
