Trail Update - March 2026

The first phase of the Watts Pond Trail was completed in August 2025 and is open for residents to enjoy.
Thank you to everyone who reviewed the concept plan, shared feedback, and followed the progress of this project. Your input helped shape the final trail design and supported the creation of a welcoming natural space for the community.
About the Trail
Watts Pond Trail offers a peaceful place to walk and connect with nature. The trail winds through native meadow vegetation beside Watts Pond and provides opportunities to rest, gather, and enjoy the surrounding landscape.
Phase One includes:
- About 1 kilometre of trail
- A 2 metre wide limestone pathway
- Seating areas along the route
- Native meadow and pollinator plantings
- Space designed for quiet, passive recreation
The trail is located in an area with important natural features and nearby environmentally sensitive habitat. Because of this, the space has been designed to remain a natural environment focused on walking and enjoying nature.
Additional interpretive signage and kiosks were also installed along the trail. These signs share the history of the site and highlight the importance of meadow and tall grass prairie habitats.
What’s Next
Future phases of the trail network are planned to the west and will be completed as development continues in the area.
The Watts Pond Trail project page will now be archived as the project moves into the operations phase.
Phase one of the Watt's Pond Trail is now complete. Thank you to everyone who shared their questions and feedback!
