Vehicle for Hire By-Law

The Draft Vehicle for Hire By-law was prepared by staff, in consultation with IBI Consulting Inc. This new By-law was prepared in keeping with the County’s purposes of safety, consumer protection, quality and availability of service as well as the underlying principles of fairness. The proposed by-law was presented on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Administration and Operations Committee meeting. 

The Draft Vehicle For Hire By-law provides a single, streamlined by-law to regulate all vehicles for hire in the County. This regulation of all vehicles for hire, including private vehicles for hire, is consistent with the comments received by Staff during the stakeholder consultation process.

The proposed by-law is now open for a 45 day commenting period before it goes live. This is an opportunity for the public and area stakeholders to provide input, comments and ideas for consideration on the proposed by-law.

Following the public commenting period, a final Vehicle for Hire By-law draft will be presented for Council’s consideration and decision.

Comments will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on February 19, 2022.
