Operating since 2019, Brant Transit is the County’s public transportation program. We are currently seeking community feedback to better understand how satisfied you are with the Brant Transit service and how we can improve it.

Brant Transit’s current service includes a fleet of vans that assist residents with transportation anywhere in the County of Brant as well as transportation from the County of Brant to the City of Brantford and from the City of Brantford to the County of Brant.

Brant Transit is fully accessible and cost effective with a flat fee for a one-way trip.

  • Riders (Ages 13-54)………. $5
  • Seniors (Age 55+)………….$3
  • Children (Ages 12 and under) and support persons are free

Our current service is not the same as a taxi or an Uber, as Brant Transit is a shared ride service. This means that users will likely be sharing a ride with other riders and there may be multiple stops on the way to their destination.

Members of the public were invited to participate in a survey to share feedback about the County’s public transportation program, Brant Transit. Engagement closed on September 30, 2023. A special thank you to all who participated and provided feedback!

The County of Brant would like to thank residents for sharing their feedback on transit in our community!

Following public consultation, and with Council approval, we are pleased to announce that a new service provider will be operating Brant Transit beginning on January 2, 2024*. Transit service will be provided by Via Transportation.

What does this mean for current and new transit users?

Brant Transit will still operate as a ‘shared ride service' which means that you will likely be sharing your ride with other riders and there may be multiple stops on the way to your destination. Brant Transit is not the same as a taxi or an Uber as rides and routes are shared with other users. It is also not an on-demand service.

    • Transit locations, hours of operation and rider fees will remain the same
    • Brant Transit transports riders:

      • Riders will be able to pay with cash, punch card, or credit card and if using the app they should select their preferred method of payment
    • Users will need to download a new Brant Transit app and create a new account to book their rides. There will also be a new phone number to book over the phone and an online booking option will be available later in January – stay tuned for updates. Ride availability will be the same across all platforms. For example, if you call in, you will receive the same information that is included on the app.
    • We encourage riders to use the new app when booking their rides. The new app will include additional features to improve the rider's experience including:
      • Availability to book rides up to 14 days in advance
      • Ride notification reminders will be sent via your preferred method of communication the day before, 30 minutes before and 5 minutes before the arrival of the scheduled trip
      • Riders will have the ability to track rides through the app
      • A “notes” feature will allow riders to share additional ride details when booking. Do you need to be picked up at the south side of your apartment? No problem, just include it in the notes!
    • There will be some changes to booking features, which will allow for more residents to access and enjoy the service. These changes include:
      • No reoccurring rides. You can still book more than one ride, but you will need to book each ride separately
      • Same-day rides not available. Bookings for the following day close daily at 9:00 pm
      • When booking, choose a trip option of either “Arrive by” (to your destination) or “Depart at” (your pick-up location). Please note that there is a 15-minute window if you choose the “Depart at” option. This means that your ride can arrive up to 15 minutes before or 15 minutes after your scheduled departure time. Remember, you will receive ride notifications (either via phone or text) and with the new app you can also track your ride for greater convenience!
      • The new service will allow riders to easily search for additional times around their desired pick-up time if bookings are full
      • Riders will be able to call their driver from the app if they cannot find them - phone numbers will remain secure for both sides
    • The new app launch date and phone number will be shared in the coming weeks, along with additional information. Please visit www.brant.ca/Transit.
