Project postponed until early spring 2027

The St. George Sanitary Trunk Sewer reconstruction project is being officially postponed until early spring 2027 due to time and weather constraints of the 2026 construction season.

Stage 1 - Main Street South and Hawk Street (Early Spring 2027 to Summer 2027)

Underground sewer work will begin on Main Street South (from 85 Main Street South to 103 Main Street South) and Hawk Street (From Main Street South to the end of Hawk Street). The scope of work also includes sections of watermain to be replaced, surface improvements like asphalt, curb, sidewalk and right of way restoration.

Stage 2 - Beverly Street West (Summer 2027 to Fall 2027)

Underground sewer works will begin on Beverly Street West (from Industrial Boulevard to High Street) during the school summer break. Beverly Street West will be fully closed during the time of construction, and a detour will be posted. The scope of work also includes surface improvements like asphalt, curb, sidewalk and right of way restoration.

Impacts

  • Intersection impacts: Intersections within the construction zone will be impacted at times
  • Road or sidewalk impacts: Roads may be closed or reduced during construction
  • Detour routes: Will be provided at time of construction
  • Parking: During construction there will be no street parking from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Friday
  • Access (personal driveways, services or amenities): Residents and Businesses will be notified prior to any restrictions to access
  • Garbage: There will be no change for the garbage collection day. An additional notice providing direction will be delivered prior to construction.
  • Utilities: There may be some disruptions to water and sanitary services as well as possible internet, cable and phone services due to services lines not being located by providers.
  • Noise/light: There will be additional noise from construction activities during working hours.
