  • Fitness equipment
  • Walkways - 2.5m asphalt walkways through the park with site furnishings including benches, waste receptacles and more
  • Trees - larger shade trees, vegetative buffer to provide privacy for adjacent properties but maintain views
  • Park amenities

The budget for the park is $260,000. New parks are supported through development charges that account for 90% of the budget, with the municipality covering the remainder of the costs.

The park name proposed will honour Jay Wells, a former NHL hockey player who grew up in Paris.

Other parks being developed in the area are:

  • Mile Hill Meadows Park (35 Edgar Place) which will have a junior soccer field and playground.
  • Summit Park (98 Lorne Card Cres.), a parkette located at 16 Arlington Parkway. Summit Park Plan consultation is now available.
  • A larger 4.55 acre park in the Grandville subdivision next to 73 Grandville Circle which may be constructed in the next few years.

I agree with some of the other responses that a picnic shelter near the playground would be great to an option to get out of the sun. And a place for parents and guardians to sit while the kids play.

I’m also very excited about a multipurpose surface that could possibly be flooded in the winter.

Covered picnic area with several tables for sun protection while enjoying the facilities.

I agree a space for an outdoor skating rink is a great idea and should not be over looked!

Shade structure for the play equipment area should be standard these. Young children are high risk for sun exposure.

As a member of the Paris Firefighters Club currently attempting to build an outdoor skating rink at Syl Apps CC (struggling due to the fact there is nothing to contain the water), I think it would be a good idea that the multi use court be designed so that it could be flooded in the winter to create a community skating rink.

I would love to see activities geared to older youth such as a skooter park and or bmx pump track. This not only encourages healthy activities it keeps youth from lingering in downtown places or on the streets. While living here for 16 years ,those of us that moved here with small children at the time now need more options for them now that they have grown into older youths.
