Naming of South Picnic Pavilion in Lions Park
This project closed in September 2024. Thank you for your feedback!
The County of Brant wants your feedback on the proposed naming of the new South Picnic Pavilion in Lions Park, Paris.
Staff endorse naming the new pavilion the Darin Ayres Pavilion in a report brought forward in April, honoring his 35-year dedication to the County of Brant Community Services department, particularly his pivotal role in enhancing Lions Park. Darin's contributions include park projects like the Pete Lavoie Ball Diamonds and the Walter Williams amphitheater, which have shaped Lions Park into the beloved destination it is today.
His commitment to the community and support of local events make this naming suggestion significant. Please provide your comments or questions on the proposed name by Sunday, June 2, 2024.
September 2024 Project Update
In September, the community gathered to celebrate the naming of the new "Darin Ayres Pavilion" at Lions Park in Paris.
Many in Brant know Darin from his 35 years with the County of Brant in the Community Services Department, where he retired in 2021. During his time with the County, Darin held various roles, with his last decade dedicated to the Brant Sports Complex and Paris Area Parks. His leadership played a key role in transforming Lions Park in Paris into the destination it is today, contributing to projects such as the Pete Lavoie Ball Diamonds, the Walter Williams Amphitheatre, the Sensory Trail, and more.
Darin’s dedication to the community and support of local service clubs and park events inspired County staff to recommend to Council naming the pavilion in his honour. Thank you, Darin, for all you’ve done for the County of Brant!
