The County of Brant imposes development charges to recover capital costs arising from the increase in needs for services related to growth. The County of Brant currently has County-wide development charges for services related to a highway, fire protection, police, waste diversion, outdoor recreation, indoor recreation, library services, ambulance, water, wastewater, stormwater and studies related to all services.

The County of Brant is proposing an amendment to the Development Charges Bylaw. The Development Charges Background Study Update was posted on the County of Brant website on September 24, 2021 and will be available for 60 days.

The County of Brant encourages public input through Engage Brant prior to the public meeting on Tuesday November 9, 2021. Feedback can also be submitted via email to Robin Hewitt and/or Heather Mifflin. Any comments and feedback provided on Engage Brant or by email will be included on the public meeting agenda and addressed on November 9, 2021.

Public Meeting

On Tuesday, November 9, 2021 the Council of the County of Brant will hold a public meeting, pursuant to Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997, as amended, to present and obtain public input on the Municipality’s proposed development charges by-law and underlying background study.

All interested parties are invited to participate electronically in the Public Meeting and any person who participates in the meeting may make representations relating to the proposed by-law and background study. The meeting is to be held as part of the regularly scheduled Policy Development and Strategic Directions Committee as follows:
