Thank you to everyone who reviewed the draft Community Forest Strategy and shared feedback.
The draft strategy was available for public input from April 8 to 23, 2026. During this time, the Engage Brant project page received 94 visits, the draft strategy was viewed 29 times, and 4 questions/comments were submitted by the community and answered by staff.
What we heard
Overall, the feedback showed support for the direction of the strategy. You shared helpful comments about how the strategy can be clearer and more visible as it moves into action.
Key insights
- You want to see action, including more information about where tree planting may happen.
- You want real examples, such as demonstration areas, pilot projects, signage, and even before and after photos.
- You are interested in planting in more areas, including trail corridors where possible.
- Community groups want to support the work through partnerships, planting, and education.
- You want clearer information about how private lands and privately managed landscapes fit into the strategy.
One participant noted, “The overall direction of the Community Forest Strategy is positive and well supported.”
What’s next
Staff will review the feedback and consider opportunities to clarify the strategy before it is presented at the Policy Development Committee meeting for consideration on Tuesday, May 5 at 6 pm at County of Brant Council Chambers, 7 Broadway Street West, Paris.
