Project update: January 2026

The Cleaver Road Bridge came before Council in October and December 2025 for consideration.

On December 18, 2025, Council voted to:

  • Maintain the closure of the Cleaver Road Bridge to vehicular traffic and supported the conversion to pedestrian only traffic.
  • This conversion will include a turnaround feature on the north side of the bridge for winter maintenance, buses and waste collection.
  • The Cleaver Road Bridge will remain as a pedestrian only bridge until such time as the existing structure can no longer sustain this use and at that time, another evaluation be completed to determine if pedestrian access or no access is the long-term solution.
  • In addition, Mill Street (between Highway 53 and Highland Drive) will be improved both for geometry and drainage and Mill Street (between Highland Drive to Robinson Road) will be resurfaced.
  • The Robinson Road Bridge will be rehabilitated upon completion of the Robinson Road Bridge rehabilitation.
  • Robinson Road (between Highway 24 and Cleaver Road) will have minor geometry improvements and be resurfaced with asphalt.
