Notice of Passing

The Council of the Corporation of the County of Brant has passed Bylaw No. 106-26 on September 8, 2026, pursuant to the provisions of Section 17(23) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended. This by-law amends the County of Brant Official Plan - A Simply Grand Plan (2023).

What does this mean?

The purpose of this Official Plan Amendment is to support the implementation of the Cainsville Premier Employment Hub Land Use Strategy. Together, these changes will help guide the long-term growth of Cainsville as a fully serviced employment area that supports job creation while promoting high-quality design, coordinated infrastructure planning, and the protection of environmental and cultural heritage features.

The amendment introduces two land use designations within the Official Plan. A new Mixed-Use Commercial Area designation is proposed to provide a transition between employment lands and nearby sensitive uses. The amendment also combines the existing General Employment and Prestige Employment designations into a single Employment Area designation, consistent with provincial planning policies for employment lands.

The amendment applies to all lands within the Cainsville Settlement Area, as shown below:

Following resolution of the Community Planning Permit System's appeals, staff will undertake the development of a CPPS Overlay to implement the Strategy's detailed direction. Additional opportunities for public and stakeholder feedback will be provided as part of that future process.
