Rest Acres Road and Highway 403 - Roundabout Construction

The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) is reconstructing the Highway 403 and Rest Acres Road (Highway 24) interchange in the County of Brant to improve traffic flow and safety by replacing current ramps with new roundabouts. This project includes construction of two new roundabout ramp terminals, realignment of existing ramps, landscaping, drainage, and lighting improvements, with construction causing periodic closures of the Highway 403 on and off-ramps.

Key improvements

Key improvements include replacing existing ramp terminals with roundabouts that will enhance safety, reduce traffic queuing, and improve efficiency for increasing traffic volumes. This work is important to the further development of the employment lands in the area.

Timing

Pre-construction activities and ramp closures are currently active, as of March 16, 2026, as work to clear the area has begun. Construction activities are currently underway. Visit the Ontario 511 website for up-to-date information on closures.

Impacts

Minimal impacts should occur on Rest Acres Road, although occasional flagging of traffic will occur. Ramps will be closed for shorter periods of time, mainly on weekends. Some longer period closures are expected. County staff are working with the Ministry of Transportation to ensure the other construction activities in the Paris area, mainly on Paris Rd, do not conflict.

Important notes

  • Detour routes will be shared.
  • Motorists can expect delays. Please visit the Ontario 511 website for up-to-date information on closures.
  • Traffic impacts will be monitored.
