2024 Proposed Budget

my last comment was submitted when i wasn't done for some reason lol. an indoor pool in town would be great. especially in winter. yes you can skate or toboggan but that is not for everyone and going to Brantford for that isn't that convenient

why can't we have an indoor pool for public swim? yes, we all know the Wayne Gretzky Center is 15 min away but what about people who don't drive and don't want to spend a fortune on a taxi, and with the new Brant transit is it guaranteed to pick you up approximately when you want to go?

Why can't we have a shuttle/bus service like we used to have? pick up and drop off spots around the community and going in and out of Brantford, etc throughout the day like every hour. No booking times you know when it coming and going.

Not happy about the increase in property taxes. Especially after the huge amounts being spent on our parks and facilities, with which to attract tourists to town. Once again: the only ones who benefit from tourism are the business downtown Paris. In the meantime we have to, not only pay, ourselves, for this, but we also have to tolerate the added noise, traffic and pedestrians.
Personally, I get nothing from the raise in taxes, but another financial burden to carry.
As for others, some are barely hanging on, as is. Taxation hikes will “force” landlords to up their rents.

Understanding that there are only so much that can be done with a budget, it does appear that the North end of Paris is being forgotten about, specifically for activities for families. There is only 1 new park and it is barely a park for kids to play, no splash pad and no activities for children/youth or families to go to play. It would be appreciated and necessary to invest in the entire city versus just rest acres.

Please improve availability of Brant Transit. As "Public Transportation", it has very limited availability. It does not serve the purpose of "Public Transportation" at all.
People who needs support seems to be forgotten in this county......

The budget needs to include funds for the rebuilding of the Cockshutt Road, indian Line intersection. This intersection by far is the worst traffic nightmare from Brantford to Port Dover on the Cockshutt Rd. Left and right turning lanes are needed on indian line to allow the many transports to turn north and south onto Cockshutt. A roundabout could be considered. There is wasteland on both sides of indian line at this intersection that can be used for widening and or roundabout.

Removal of the ridiculous blockage of the driveway at Little. Brown Cow. The engineer needs to suck up his ego and admit he made a mistake. From a safety concern it is far worse that before the reconstruction.

Please do not forget communities outside Paris. I am especially thinking of the Bawcutt Centre project, which will benefit mostly Paris but will have to be paid for by all. The current Paris library, which I use often, is fine.
